Nursery

Nursery times are:

Morning Nursery 9.00am - 11.30am
Afternoon Nursery 12.45pm - 3.15pm

We believe that an early and well structured start to a child’s education is a good grounding. Our Nursery building and play area is attached to the main building but it is self contained. This enables us to provide a secure environment that is bright and stimulating for the children when they first enter the Nursery. When the children are at ease in this situation, they are gradually introduced to the rest of the school.

By the time pupils are ready to transfer to the main school they are joining in assemblies and using the hall for PE, dance and any other special activities.

Before starting Nursery, children and parents are invited to visit the school and are usually also visited at home by the Nursery staff.

Each September there is an intake of 26 children per am/pm session into our nursery.

Children generally start nursery at the beginning of the academic year in which they are four. From January 2006, children who have their third birthday during the previous autumn term may be offered a nursery place if there are spaces available. Priority is still given to children who are already four years old. If there are still nursery places for the summer term then children who have had their third birthday during the spring term may be offered a place. In effect, the nursery class could have 3 intakes of children during each academic year. A letter offering a place in the nursery class is sent to the parents or carers during the term prior to them starting. This includes an offer for them to receive a home visit by the teacher and nursery nurse and the details of a visiting day when parents may bring their child to visit the nursery.
